Exclamation Need Help with ECU

Ok guys, followed the steps to check an engine code via the scuderiaciriani.com/rx7 how to. I grounded the TEN and GND like it says on the diagosis cover and the site, but it will not tell me the code still! I used a piece of wire and put them into the little metal gray slots on TEN and GND to connect them. The engine light will just stay on when I turn the car to the on position and won't go away. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Thanks
Jeff

Had the exact same problem for a very long time...turned out it was my stock ECU. And my CEL turned out to be the AIT...does it run rough everytime the light comes on while driving?
