Unhappy Need help with coolant issues

All of a sudden my add coolant light is comming on. It is full though. Im trying to decide if its time for a new engine or its just the sensors acting up. It will say add coolant for 15 sec. then go off. Then sometimes come on and go off. Tonight when i was driving, it came on and the temp started rising, so i was like ****. I pulled over and put it in neutral. When i put it in neutral the temp was almost at H. I was about to turn it off, but literally after i put it in neutral it slammed back down to normal. When i finally got home and shut the car down, there were no gargling sounds like it was eating coolant. There was also no White smoke. Anyone have any advice? Time to flush the radiator and replace the sensors? Or time for a new engine due to coolant seal? The original engine has almost 90k on its clock, so i know its going to need a rebuild soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Have you run the champagne bubble test?

Look on the top of the radiator. If Im not mistaken, there should be a coolant level sensor on it. It will be about in the middle of the radiator and just have 2 wires running from it.

The coolant level sensor is on the filler neck.
As mentioned, do the bubble test. Remove the filler neck cap (not the AST cap), idle the car till normal temp. Observe the coolant, look for small steady stream of bubbles, if it's there you have a coolant seal problem.

I'm looking at the FC we have here with and FD swap into it (at work). Either someone put the old radiator back in...or they decided not to change it. It's not my current project so Im not sure.

one thing that i didnt mention, which could be the problem, is that where you fill the coolant, i think that there is a small piece on top that came out because when i try and fill it up, it just runs out of the top all over.
