NEED HELP BAD!!! Transmission stuck in reverse
Anyone ever hear of this? I just got a used tranny and when I put it in, it won't shift out of reverse. tell me it could be something easy and what I should look for when I get it back out. I've never ever done this sort of thing, so any help would be mucho appreciated. thank you.
I seem to remember on my SHO, the tranny `drain plug' was actually a bolt that had an alignment purpose. basically, if the bolt was out of the tranny, and someone bumped the shifter, you had to open it up and line everything up again. does the RX have something like this? I did have pull out a bolt with a round protrusion at the end to drain the fluid.

Are you sure the tranny was good before you bought it? If so, did you drive it when it was in reverse and forgot to put fluid in? Are you sure your clutch is working properly.
If everything is the way it is supposed to be, try rolling the car alittle and try to get it out of gear.

I was told...
...by the person I bought it from ( a member of this list, no less) that it was just dandy and worked fine. as for rolling it, how should I do this. roll it forward and let out the clutch and see if it pops out? what would be wrong with it if that's the case?

I know when I put my Reverse light switch in without a gasket it will get stuck or be very hard to get out of reverse. It went IN fine but comin out was a bitch. I finally figured it out and put a gasket on the switch and all is well. Might be something to check. Does it only do it when the car is running?? Does it come out of reverse when the car is off??
That is the reverse light switch, and if it has no gasket it wont come out of reverse. Just get a crush washer and you will be OK!!!!
