Question Need help! 94 FD sluggish

I recently bought a 94 FD touring Automatic with 73000 miles. The car is in excellent condition as far as interior and exterior. I have been having a problem with it dying when I stop. It also seems to be running real rich. I can smell strong gas fumes coming from the tailpipe. On top of this it seems to be real sluggish off the line. Once I get up to about 40 mph it seems fine. But at lower speeds it performs worse than my sisters sentra. Any help would be appreciated!!

Could you give us a list of engine-related mods? It will help. Also, when was the last time you changed your plugs and wires?

The car as far as I know is totally stock. I just bought the car 3 days ago. The wires look ok but i might change them just so I know what I have.

start with the usual things first like fuel filter, boost gauge, plugs and wires. Your primary turbo might not be getting boost. unfortunately with the sequential turbo system, it could be alot of things - but start with the 4 things mentioned and go from there.

Unless you have full maintenance records, you should give the car the full 60k service -- all new fluids and filters, flush coolant, etc. That will give you a good starting place anyway. If your running very rich at idle and low speeds, I'll say it could be your 02 sensor, or maybe your air pump has failed. I would start with those before you get into more complicated and expensive fixes.

Better do a compression test.....does it stall when you cut the AC on?
