Need an alarm to protect my investment
Need an alarm to protect my investment
Any suggestions??! I would like something that has a pager like apparatus bc I deffinitely will not here my alarm going off if I am in a club or someshit. you know what I'm getting at. Any experiences, good or bad..........thanks
Hey Champ
I had an aftermarket alarm put in just after I purchased my car a few weeks ago, along with a turbo timer. They didn't disable the factory alarm and as a result I found that if the turbo timer was off and I set the alarm, when I came back my car and disarmed it, the factory alarm would immediately trigger. The beeping was a bit of a pain, especially when I was trying to be quiet in the first place. Took it back to the guys who installed the alarm and had them disable the factory alarm system. Haven't had any problems since! Sorry I can't give you any info on a paging alarm system. That would be quite cool though.

my buddy has the clifford alarm on all his cars (porsche, m3 convertable, iroc, benz, escalade) and he seems to be very well satisfied with it. i will be goin with the clifford matrix rs3 which was also front page on time magazine! it is very expensive..but i see it like this..if u plan to put alot of money and effort in your car..it's worth it. it is the ultimate..i recently had my 10ae broken into and vandalized real bad after dumping around 20,000 in it..so i know how it feels and i never wanna feel that again.

I've always like Compustar alarms. Any quality alarm, be it Clifford, Viper/DEI, Alpine, etc.. should do. Find the one with the best features at the price point that you like.

I have a CompuStar too, and I like it. I had a Clifford in my previous car, and it was nice as well. The Compustar on my FD has the remote start (5 speed too), built in turbo timer, and a paging system, among other things. Very nice set up.

I also own a Integra Type-R (which pretty much tend to get stolen if you as much as glance away from them for a minute) and "my car has just been stolen" threads occur every few days on Type-R boards. Common theme is that the stolen car has not been garaged. $1-$2k security systems (Lojacks, satellite alarms etc.) are typical on most of the the stolen cars.
Most car thieves are professionals and an alarm is at most a minor annoyance to them. If you think there is a high likelihood that your car is going to get stolen, get a lower insurance deductible. If you still have a $1000 burning a hole in your pocket, I would spend it on pizza and beer.
Like engine additives, alarms/Lojack/The Club etc. are pretty much a scam. There is a reason that most insurance companies no longer offer reduced premiums for cars with alarms.
