Need advice on a stock bov from FD gurus...

I just picked up an R2. It was shipped to me, and I've noticed that the BOV is running straight to the atmosphere. I've heard that on an FC, without a check valve on it, this is a bad thing. This does not have a check valve. Although it sounds great, (but not near as good as an RFL or Godzilla of course), I'm wondering if I should hook it back up to recirculate or not? Is this going to cause any problems? Any help would be appreciated!

I would put a filter on it. It does pull air in a idle. Put a little piece of paper in front of it and watch the vacuum hold it there.

if your turbos are good enuf/spinning easily and freely, they should be blowing out a bit at idle (i guess it really depends on what your idle is set at) in anycsae, read down a bit, there has already been a topic about this once this week

I would add a little something to this thread, but last time I mentioned something about stock BOVs I got banned........

And to answer your question, it's not a problem to just let it vent out into the atmosphere, with or without a filter.........

no need for a filter. the bov does not suck in air. it should be blowing air out even at idle. if its sucking air in, you have a problem. aftermarket bov's do not blow air at idle due to a tighter spring in the valve, which allows the car to boost quicker. its probablly not noticable, but it does help. most aftermarket bov's are adjustible for larger turbo's and what not.

The stock BOV is open at idle ... it does suck air in ... go to your car and try it.
