my newly totalled FD

here's the pics i promised. doesn't look like any of the body will be salvagable. depending on how the insurance company handles it, i may just get another FD and swap the parts over. i'm definately buying it back regardless, but i won't now until next week whether i'll be parting it out or going FD shopping again

AHHHHH!!!!!! I hate to see that man. Glad I got to see it in person at least once. I might take some stuff off your hands if you decide to part it. Or maybe I have some misc parts you might need to get another one going.

:(

blownapexseal7 11-18-04 12:23 PM

sorry to hear about that but do you think you would have fared better if you had an airbag? I'm debating about putting in an aftermarket steering wheel and (unfortunately) you're the perfect candidate to tell us whether or not it's a good idea.

RX 4 Speed 11-18-04 12:23 PM

dude... that sucks :( I remember seeing your car as it was in the last pic :( What happened? My condolences on the FD man... at least you're alright, right? I do remember you had a thread once about selling your FD...

adam c 11-18-04 12:24 PM

Dibs on the drivers side headlight cover :)

That looks awful. Sorry to see an FD in that condition.

02Sidewinder 11-18-04 12:26 PM

So sorry to see what happened to your FD.
That was one of the best looking FD's I've seen.
At least you are O.K. You can always build another one.

a2zpcwiz 11-18-04 12:26 PM

I feel your pain - At least your girfriend is ok. It could have been worse - I totaled my Z06 1 year ago doing 120 and just opened the door and walked out. Good luck on your next car.

Brian_93 11-18-04 12:28 PM

Damn , One FD less on the roads, and yours was badass. sorry for the loss

RedR1 11-18-04 12:28 PM

Damn man, sorry to see that. What the hell happened?? You had the of the, if not the cleanest FD's i've seen in a while!

the_glass_man 11-18-04 12:32 PM

JESUS CHRIST that car was beautiful. Man what a tragedy. :(

spoolin93r1 11-18-04 12:35 PM

my girlfriend was the one driving. she was forced into a guardrail at around 65-70mph, crossed 2 lanes of traffic, through a median, across another 2 lanes, then almost head on into the opposite guardrail. i don't know how she managed to not hit another car. she had a ruptured spleen and had to have it removed. she's lucky that's all that happened. as far as the airbag, i don't see how it could have helped any in this situation, if anything, it would hurt her more than helping. i'm still in total awe that she survived with just a ruptured spleen

RedR1 11-18-04 12:39 PM

At least she is alive. Cars are always replaceable, a life is not. I would definately take whomever forced her into the railing into a major lawsuit (if they did not hit-n-run), for medical and property damages, amongst other things. At least the airbag did not do serious damage as they usually do in severe wrecks.

I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before I am envying the cleanliness your new car-

TwinTurbo93 11-18-04 12:41 PM

Holy shit duude, did you get hurt?, I hope not!
My condolences for your loss, I hope you get some money back from you ins. comp. so you can get back on the road with another FD b/c this one doesn't look like a easy fix

What did you hit, where you going fast? I feel for you bro. I been there, I had my 300 ZX totalled from a similar accident

apex_sideway 11-18-04 12:41 PM

Wow man, i'm glad your girlfriend is okay . . . . screw the car; if you had full coverage you can get a new one and if not you have your girlfriend. Good luck man.

spoolin93r1 11-18-04 12:43 PM

well, the person that forced her over was an elderly handicapped lady that probably had no idea what she did. the wasn't any contact made with the other car as my g/f didn't want to hurt the car, but there just wan't enough room to make it safely onto the side of the road. there weren't any witnesses close enough to clearly make out the other car. all we have is a description and there isn't a chance in hell of finding the person. kinda sucks, but life goes on. i'm just thrilled that she's still with me. i'll hopefully be building another FD soon. may take some time to get it as nice, but i'm gonna try for it

adam c 11-18-04 12:43 PM

Glad to hear the your girlfriend is going to be OK. I hope the person that caused this is held responsible.

Skeltah 11-18-04 12:43 PM

Sorry for your loss man...
Is the drivers side weather stripping still intact? I'm also looking for the rubber weather stripping between the outside door handle and the window. Tell me what you are going to have available...

jermelle 11-18-04 12:55 PM

gosh damn son

What happened??? Sorry to see that.

XSTransAm 11-18-04 12:56 PM

damn man that really sucks, im sorry that happened to you. and look the vultures are already at pray.

glad to hear that you and your gf are ok. that looks like it was a pretty bad accident. In the end its just a car though.

jermelle 11-18-04 12:59 PM

glad to see your girl is o.k.

WHIPSrx7 11-18-04 01:05 PM

It's too bad it never made it to the Revo in 2004...I wish I could have seen it. I was really looking forward to it. I'm most definitely glad your girlfriend is okay. I hate to see any car totalled, it's just a waste of metal. Tell your girlfriend I said screw the old people next time (LOL j/k). Keep us updated on whether or not your are getting a new FD or not and also how the insurance company is handling all of this. I can't imagine how you must have felt to hear about your girlfriend and your car...Good luck with all the decisions you're going to have to make!

Craig

Fd3BOOST 11-18-04 01:10 PM

Bummer man.

Scrapiron7 11-18-04 01:14 PM

Wow, that's worse than I had pictured it to be. I'm glad she's OK though, that's what is important. Best of luck.

turbojeff 11-18-04 01:16 PM

OUCH. Man you guys are lucky no one was seriously hurt.

I don't know how the airbag would hurt you more though. Airbags are made for accidents like this, when they go off in small impacts they end up doing more harm than good.

Looks totalled to me btw.

Vader 11-18-04 01:18 PM

Jesus. Those pics are hard to look at. That car was truly gorgeous. I can see a lot of work went into it. Sorry.
Thank god your girlfriend is alright.

FDboost 11-18-04 01:21 PM

my eyes hurt now

vchacon 11-18-04 01:25 PM

I'm sorry your GF had such a bad accident. I wish her a speedy recovery from her surgery.

Meiogirl 11-18-04 01:56 PM

My condolences as well. Its amazing to see crash zones at work. Your car did exactly what it was supposed to, the cabin stayed in tact.

wylie 11-18-04 01:58 PM

Hope your girl gets well soon.

Sad to see that car that way.

Glad you didn't lose more.

RX7Wishing 11-18-04 02:02 PM

an airbag would of helped in that accident IMO. I see accidents like this day in and out. Im glad she is ok.

Madmax670 11-18-04 02:06 PM

So sorry man, i know how u feel

RedBaronII 11-18-04 02:10 PM

I hope she (girlfriend) recovers fully and quickly. I mean it.

I also hope, that she will be the future mother of your kids, so it is all good.
If not, then Pimp her Ass untill she pays for everything. :D

Gibenstein 11-18-04 02:17 PM

Its painful to look at =(.... I thought my accident was bad... Glad everyone was ok and hope you come back for some more fd action... And I must say also I would always stare at your car when I was browsing the forum. Good luck and hope to see you again.... Cars are replaceable for sure but people are not like stated a few pages back.

spoolingrl 11-18-04 03:38 PM

This is his girlfriend....and I am so, so sorry. Words can't describe the remorse I feel about what happened. He keeps telling me I am more important, and that the car doesn't matter...but it did, and does...to me. If he gets another one, I am sure to be out busting my ass helping with the build up. even still, I don't feel that is enough to compensate for this...i can't get the image of his smashed up car out of my head...it makes me want to cry. actually, it does make me cry.

RX7WEEE 11-18-04 03:45 PM

Well the importan thing is that u are alive, its better to have u than a nice car...

If he gets a nothre FD buy him a nice single turbo im sure he would love that :)

SleepR1 11-18-04 03:48 PM

Amazed and glad your girlfriend survived. What road? SR135 south? Another beautiful and fast FD totalled in IN (the other was radkins' black beauty) :(

very understanding girl you are, glad you are okay...even more understanding boy you've got.

I like the part about "if" he gets another one...without a doubt in your mind it's going to get worked :D

akiratdk 11-18-04 04:04 PM

Damn man!!~~~
You have one really nice girlfriend!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think any girlfriends of mine will actually check the forums and post stuff for him....... damn..... way to go!!!!
Screw the car!!~~~ keep your girlfriend safe and sound!!!!
HALELUUYAAA!~~~~

1QWIK7 11-18-04 04:18 PM

holy shit!! i cant believe i saw those pics, you had the one of the cleanest fds out there man.... sorry.. but im glad that you and your girl is ok, i mean from the story you said, we only have to thank god that she walked away from it..

but i dont understand, was it raining that day or something? or the other lady just pushed her into the guardrail?? or was she racing?

turbodrx7 11-18-04 04:28 PM

OUCH that hurts to look at. Im really glad ur GF is ok. Fuck the car man, if u lost ur GF i think u would be alot worse of than a car. Your FD was nice. Just build another :) its half the fun. IMO an airbag would have MAJORLY helped her out. She broke the steering wheel.... she hit that thing pretty hard.

the_glass_man 11-18-04 04:43 PM

Damn, Radkins totaled his car too? All these nice RX-7's are no more, I hope somebody get their hands on them an rebuilds them.

fastcarfreak 11-18-04 06:14 PM

Im glad she is ok. Hope you get another one and make it even prettier and faster. Good luck.

On a side note, i know which car im not letting my girlfriend drive. I wouldnt want to lose either of them, so might as well prevent the whole situation all together.

Section8 11-18-04 06:24 PM

My God. Glad your GF is ok, wish her a speedy recovery.

SleepR1 11-18-04 06:37 PM

radkins is looking for an FD tub to transfer his parts from his totalled '94. It was a similar front-end crash.

We're glad you have the strength to post! Get well soon!

spoolin93r1 11-18-04 06:45 PM

i do count myself very lucky to have such a great g/f. depending on what the insurance company says, i'll more than likely end up with another one. it might take a while to get to the same point, but like someone stated earlier, that's half the fun anyways. i actually enjoy that part the most. as for Kayla, she's doing fine now and has made it home (obviously). i can't express how happy i am that she survived as well as she did. i'll be posting up the parts i won't be needing whenever i hear from the insurance next week as i'll be ready to start getting some cash flow :)

hopefully i'll have something to show off at the revo 2005

darkphantom 11-18-04 06:45 PM

Spoolin93r1 How Did That Happened??

If You Have Full Coverage You Could Swap The Parts To Another Car,
But Sorry That That Happened. Better THE CAR Than YOU

Compilez 11-18-04 06:58 PM

WOW, she hit that steering wheel HARD!!! Glad to see that your girlfriend is ok.

Amazing, a girlfriend that cares about her boyfriends FD! Must be nice to have a girlfriend that supports your car hobby. She is def. a keeper! :bigthumb:

I am possibly interested in your black interior if you don't need it in your new one. I have tan interior on my 93 and I want black.

prrex4ever 11-18-04 07:15 PM

Really sorry to hear about your car and your GF. I hope everything works out O.K. for you.
