My new hood....take a peek!

After ordering my hood from Rotary extreme about 4 months ago. I received it last week. Right now I just test fit it on, so it needs some adjustments. It looks so good. I can't wait to see what kind of temps I get from it. It took so long to get because it was still in the mold phase. Since I was the first one to pay in full for the hood...I got the first one Well I'll stop talking and let the photos speak for themselves.

its not fair that I first saw all these designs 5 or 6 years ago and now that you have it, you think I want to be just like you because I like the same things you're getting......damn it. Oh well, I'm still getting one.

You suck!!!

hehehe, my CF should be here in a few days too. I also got mine from Chuck. I have a question for you though Scrub. Did you have somebody help you with the install or were you able to manhandle the hood by yourself? I wanna surprise my friends with the new hood, so I dont want to ask any of them for help.

Thanks everyone one for the replies. It's the RE AD-9 style hood. It's all good Dave We're just gonna have the same setup, haha. I had some help with the install. I didn't want to drop it or crack it so I had someone hold it while I bolted it on. I just need to go pick up some hood pins now. Don't want that thing flying off.

How is the quality for the hood. Some cheap CF hood has very thin layer that will cause damage easily

damn boyeeeee... haha yea it looks good, but looks much better in person! Sucks that the stock hood is so light, that with CF you don't lose much weight, but with the extra cooling factor now, it is very much worth the $$.

and yea, putting the hood on is definitely a 2 person job, you don't want to run the risk of dropping it or chipping a corner.

PS - dan, saw your dad at my restaurant tonight, he brought in a good 15 people or so. haha, that muthafucka is crazy alright i'll call you tomorrow, i go back to the restaurant at 2. lataaaaaa

Yes, so far I have done all the work on my FD by myself. I like doing all the work by myself, even if it is a two man job. I dont like going around asking people for help because I dont like to be a bother.

What's wrong with that?

just bustin your ***** . the fd hood is pretty light though and shouldn't be a 2 man job IMO. i take mine off whenever doing any work under the hood, but i suppose you run the risk of dropping it and scratching some paint.

Yah, I know...hehehe

I just wanted to surprise one of my friends with the new hood. I figured it would be better to show it to him on my car rather then on my living room floor.

Hopefully it will be light enough for my to work on alone. I'll try to think of something clever when I do the install.

I will also post a thread like Scrub did in case you all wanted to see it on a VR FD.

Sounds good. That will give me some time to wrap things up with the FD, and make it out.

looks fantastic, BUT, are the vents symmetrical?? On your first pic it looks as if theres a bigger gap from the left light to the left edge of the left vent than the gap between the right vent and right light, and i even checked length with my finger to see and the gap seems bigger,

PLEASE tell me thats just the angle you took the pic at as i really want one of these!

Same question here? I have his RE style headlight kit and it fits like ***!!Needs major trimming and shaping. How are your gaps around the headlights? It looks bigger on the passenger side. What is the cost difference between the copy and the orig.? How many layers of CF did he use ?

Are you going to paint it? My opinion but I think unpainted CF looks like you got primer on the hood, and your welfare checks stopped. You should paint it silver and leave the vent slats unpainted so people can tell it's CF.

I bought the real RE AD9 fiberglass hood from chuck and it's painted vintage red to match my car. I'll have pics of mine shortly.
