My New 95 Montego Blue/PEP

Well, I've finally gotten around to taking pics of my new baby and posting them. And I am itching to get her pushed into the garage and get some work done. Nothing like the frustration of owning a beautiful FD and now having the setup to get her running right away!

Anyways, here are a couple of pics of her on the delivery day:

And some pictures of the Brand New Engine from Malloy Mazda (not a reman, not a rebuild... brand new) Oh, and I couldn't tell you how awesome Ray Crowe @ Malloy Mazda really is to work with!! Dont go anywhere else!!!!!

Engine blown. Kinda why I got it for the price I did. Car is in great shape aside from a few exterior blemishes and some dings that I need to get taken out. otherwise, very straight with great maintenance records.

Thanks! I can't wait untill I get the engine and transmission out to start work on the engine bay. The more I look at the paint, the more spots I find that the clearcoat is gone. Luckily a friend of mine is a body guy and had some great ideas to fix them without respray. However, if those don't work, then it looks like a respray is in the future. I just hate doing something half-assed.... so tha tmeans I'd be stripping the entire car and repainting everything. Sometimes being picky is expensive, but oh well. At least things get done right.

I am impressed with the interior for a 12 year old car. the carpet is a bit worn/stained and the scuff plates are ...well, suuffed. but all things to be expected with age. The seats have the standard bolster wear and the leather looks a bit sketchy, but no splits, just wear. The rest of the interior is perfect.

I probably paid a little high of a price for her, but I am happy that I got a 95 and am happy that I have 2 transmissions (1 beign rebuilt and has all of the parts, and 1 needing 5th gear synchro) and 2 engines (original blown and the new mazda engine). Plu all of the stock parts, and a bunch of extras, including manuals and misc pieces that have yet to be installed.

The original owner told me that the engine died as he was coasting to a stop with the clutch in and the engine at idle. it just died. no loud noises and such. And then it wouldn't turn over. I don't know how bad it could be, but I figure it won't be as bad as what has happened to some.

All of this along with the maintenance records (and pictures of everything done to the vehicle) made me feel pretty confident in purchasing it. The records are from mile 40 when it was purchased from a dealer back in 1996 and I am the second owner. Makes me very happy.

Ok, I am getting quite a few PM's about the new engine.
I'll give the details right here instead:
Purchased from Ray Crowe @ Malloy Mazda (only had a few left)
Price was 4k (4210 shipped to WA state)
It comes with oil pump, water pump, main pulley and a flywheel!
everything is new!
It is a shortblock.
These are Mazda made engines, and the wait time was not long at all. matter of a week and a half from payment to delivery.

Yeah... it's going to take me forever to get the rest of the car and engine bay that clean. I want to be able to start from a (hopeful) clean slate before I go driving this beast around.

Luckily, I've got lots of time before next autocrossing season... my original plan was to finish her before the end of this season, but with a gf that has a 4 year old... and a job working for the county on 12 hour shifts... not a very probably thing.

No rushing!

102k miles on the chassis ( a bit high, but the condition and items replaced made it worth the 12.5k shipped i paid)

the new engine was 4210 shipped to my door from Ray Crowe @ Malloy Mazda. 4k is his price. Only has a few left. Tell him that Nathan Monk sent you.

So all in all I have about 17k in the car with a brande new engine and a transmission that has all new synchros and seals and such (just needs to be put together) and an enxtra engine and transmission and some high quality aftermarket parts. I think all in all I got a good deal.

In a couple of years (once I get the extra engine and transmission rebuilt) I am going to look for a 93 or 94 roller to turn into a track car, or heavily modded street car... don't know yet.

They did... albeit about 6 hours north of me.

BTW - Good eye, My friends and I were taking bets as to how long before someone noticed the Porsche in the background... especially since it was really well hidden.

Here is a picture of the company my baby had to talk to on the trip to my house.
It's a Carrera S.

It would be interesting to see how many are still on the road, I have one at the moment and know where another one is just an hour away from me. Couldnt be more than about 3-400 left that were USDM.

To the OP, great looking car and good find.

You are the "other" guy in Washington with a 95.

When I registered my 95' I asked the lady at the DMV to see if there was anybody else in WA with a 95'. There were 4 as of 2004, but I was the only currently regitsered 95' at the time (made me feel sad, I assume the others were crashed or transplanted)

It's late, but welcome to the indangerer speices (95 owners)

We should get some pictures of our cars in Seattle or something (when I get my car running...)

Later!

~ Jesse.

Yes, I have had her for a while now.

She is currently down for a gt3574r turbo conversion. Going to be a completely different animal. (I hope I like the spool of the 3574r, as I will probably go to something that spools faster if it is too laggy. A-Spec told me it would be a good turbo for autocross, and the occasional track day.

Exterior wise, I am keeping her stock looking. Also, every engine bay modification can be reversed to stock If need be. I am not going to hack up one of 500 95's...

And there is one more registered 95 on the road in tri-cities.
