Is my motor toast?

This weekend I upgraded to a aluminum AST and went for a short drive. While I was away from the RX-7 one of the turbo coolant lines burst (higher one) and dumped all of the coolant above it. I don't know how soon after I parked that this happended but, it took about a gallon of water before water started to leak out of the turbo line again.

could this occur from having a large airpocket left in your coolant system after installing the AST?

I don't think so, I used the tool that others have suggested in other threads and burped the radiator before leaving home. Also, the old AST had a cracked over flow barb which was causing me to constantly refill the radiator. My guess is that the new AST was able to hold pressure and just moved my cooling problems to the turbo. My hope is that some one else had the same experience and their coolant seals were not damage.

You might have just had a weak/old turbo coolant hose. How many miles were on it? those things see a lot of thermal abuse. As long as you didn't overheat the car, I wouldnt worry about your coolant seals.

Temperature was ok when I shut down

When I parked the car the temp was ok and had been for the 15 minute drive. My fear is that when the line burst, the engine heat soaked the seals and damaged them. This is my second/project car so I'm not too worried about having to rebuild, other than time and expense, but this engine only has about 26k on it since rebuild and I'd rather put off a rebuild for ~60k or better.
