my fd's aem ignition problems...update (beware)

my car is all done and ready to dyno on the new turbo kit ...mucho bugs have been worked out and I finally got the new clutch installed. however, the aem ignition has been headache after headache.

it started by causing the car to stall out and reached the point where the car wouldnt even stay running without it shutting off. aem was supposedly fixing the issues and blamed it on a bad batch. so..we orderd from the NEW batch...guess what...three more aem units are down and out and now sent back to the factory and my dyno time is delayed at least another week while they try to fix my unit. they are refusing to refund money and are only willing to do repairs on the ignition. they keep blowing out the fuses. so much for it being a bad batch huh?

avoid them at all costs right now. it is not worth your time.

I'd cut my losses and take a hammer to it. Just get the HKS and be done with it.

I'm so happy that I got the HKS..

I know at least 2 AEM owners in SE.. and they both are being the test dummy for AEM.. AND not getting paid by them.. I say if its not working by second one, just ask them for a refund.. Don't waste time and dangering yourself because AEM lies about their product!! What do they build thats acturally useful for the FD's?? I'm curious?? are their A/F meter any good?? How about the AEM ECU??

well I am going to give it one more shot and if I have any probs Im going with the msd. I should just throw down for the hks...just was hoping the new aem ignition would work out. I like the design and function...if it actually functioned. not happy that they are lying to their rx customer base. not happy at all.

I have heard of problems with every ignition system there is except for HKS. This includes MSD, Jacobs and naturally AEM.

I've heard good things about the B&M New Volt unit, which is now being sold under the XS Engineering Power Pack moniker....
