My FD's 1st birthday present (pics)
It's been about a year since I got my current FD, in early April of '04. To celebrate, I got a few new cosmetic upgrades. I finally got around to installing the 17" Borbet Type E's that were left over from my other car, added an R1 lip, and replaced some worn interior bits with new panels, as well as added the neat JDM armrest/ashtray insert from Rotary Performace. Paint and body are due soon, so I've been shopping around for a shop to do the work. The paint really looks like hell if you get up close to it, but it looked good in this afternoon's light, so I snapped a few pics.

Twins are doing very well. Motor's leaking oil in various spots though so I keep saying "next weekend I'm gonna pull the motor" and I have yet to get around to it.
That fan is from a Triumph 955i radiator. It's amazing how much air it moves.

I like those gauges and how you have them set up. I might do the same. Whats keeping the Tach from sitting in there correctly? Would it be possible to cut out the dash piece so it can slide back further?
Oh and gj on the car man, love the turbo setup. Always cool when someone does something that is new.

I think you might want to get a larger fan for your ic, that looks like it came off a computer...
From your picture, it looks as if the fan is weak and blows down. Will this really be helpful. Not critisizing, just curious.
Re: the tach, I have mixed feelings about it. When I do the AM speedo I might replace the tach with a 4" that will sit back in the dash cover correctly.
Re: the fan, the fan is a bike radiator fan, probably flows several hundred CFM. It pulls up and draws air through the I/C airbox from a duct in the front bumper and out the top. The original plan was a vented hood, but until I rework my intercooler this really helps the heat soak in traffic. The airbox under the I/C is insulated thin-gauge steel and helps a lot as well. The plan with the I/C is to rotate it down about 70 degrees and bring the radiator up behind it (I'll use a narrower, thicker radiator). That I/C is too big to v-mount.
The armrest is very nice, once you get it to fit correctly. I can't say I am completely satisfied for the $98 price (www.rx7.com). It's just ABS with a leather/vinyl top and you really have to mess around with it to get it to fit. It doesn't snap in with the certainty that the original tray does, I think because the clips that hold it in are not the same as the ones on the JDM center console panel. However, if you bend the metal clips out, you can make it fit very well and it's nice to have a place to put your arm
. My cell phone fits inside very well. I might take some photos of it in and out of the panel later on.
Re: the oil pressure gauge, yes it is hooked up, no the car was not running when I took the photo. The air core AM tach with shift light returns to the shift light setting when you turn the power on; the engine was still hot from shutting it down just prior.

Nice. I've got the same armrest. I think it was ment for a right-hand drive car. When you get around to pulling your engine and if you need help, just drop me a line.
