My Compression test readings!!
My Compression test readings!!
Ok So I had a minor detonation while playing with the ECU and got scared that I could have hurt the motor. (bit of a hyperchondriac) Borrowed Mazdas compression tester for rotaries this is what I got. Keep in mind I have 3mm apex on factory rotors. This engine also has less then 100 miles on it so it hasn't even fully seated yet.
Front rotor = 9.2 ; 9.0 ; 8.8 Rear Rotor 9.4 ; 9.2 ; 9.0
Now from what Ive heard mazda remans normally come out at best 9.0 all around so I guess for my first time rebuilding a rotory I did a good job! I'm also just so relieved that my detonation albeit minor didnt blow an apex!

That's 3mm strong point. Scientifically they have more structural integrity than the 2mm so they are more durable. Think about snapping a single tooth pick and trying to snap a tooth pick that has 50% more wood, however this doesn't mean they are the best seal for every application. They chatter more at higher rpms. It's hard to get the best of both worlds.
