My alarm works!!! uh.. what set it off??
I have tried to make my alarm go off on several occasions. I thought it was broke until last night. It was out side with the hood up (cooling down for awhile) and the alarm went off. My motion light was not triggered, no one in sight, and no forced entry. Any ideas why it went off. Thanks guys.

stock alarm?
Cats can set off cheap alarms but you said you tried yourself. Look for a hood pin, if the alarm does not have false trigger protection then the open hood would would trigger it.

The stock alarm is triggered only after 30 seconds after it has been set by locking the doors. Trigger points are:
Door switches
Door locking mechanism
Trunk lid
and Hood
All entries use sensors and these can act just like the glove box light switch. They activate when they want to. My 2nd gen used to go off all the time when it was cold out. It was the back hatch. I think that your hood sensor activated somehow.

I've left my hood up to cool, and the alarm wil not arm until you close the hood, or trunk if it is open. I've had my alram go off when I locked it, but didn't hold the handle when closing. the door would not stay locked, but the alarm somehow ativated. I think the stock alram just kind of sucks. some one can try to open the door by puuling the latch and it doesn't go off. I'm about to put in clifford aftermarket. it retails for like 300+ ( the most expensive one they carry at Best buy). if you want one for $160 new in box. I should be able to hook you up. and it's a good time to put in a turbo timer when you get the alarm installed too.
