MSD DIS-2 and 6AL Questions

I am working on fixing my car from the tons of mistakes made by previous owner on how to modify the car. He has a MSD DIS-2 and a 6AL on the car. Is it worth keeping them and actually relocating them from the engine bay to the passenger bay or just sell them.. I guess what I am asking is do they really make a difference. Right now the previous owner moved the radiator back, made a custom plate. mounted the dis and 6al on it and then had a Isuzu Intercooler put in. Would I be better off selling the ignition stuff and buying a fm or keep the isuzu and the ignition? Heres a pic to give you an idea...

yes.. they do make a difference. But in the end, the decision is up to you.

well how much of a i difference. Cam at pettit says he runs stock ignition on his gt car and on the bonzai cars that make 500hp. Also, is that isuzu truck intercooler efficent enough to use?

Keep them if You want to run decent amount of boost on that single. Have the coils been changed out also? If not put some Blaster coils in and run some colder plugs if he does not have them in there.(B10EGV are cheap)Once You get up there in boost levels I think that ignition will help You alot and the work He had done looks good to Me besides the stock Rad.

Well... it looks good. but isnt.. that radiator is about 1 inch from my turbo inlet. So my turbo is sucking that 200degree air off the back of the radiator. I cant even run a filter on the car because of it. So, is the isuzu intercooler efficient enough for me to run 12lbs of boost?

I have no idea about that IC as We can not see it. Do You have any measurments? If it is not going to be large enough I would still not lose the MSD stuff, just relocate it. I have seen T-78`s with stock mount IC`s so I would guess that your IC will be fine. Invest in an Aquamist water injection and You wont have to worry about high intake temps. With any large turbo You should be using the water injection anyways.

Also 12 PSI seems very low for Your setup? What has He done with the fuel and ecu? I would go with a much smaller single if You want to run that boost level.

Who built the car by the way? Why so many vac hoses under the UIM?

Steve
