mrr rotary event at road america and tuning, and....
I had a great time at the mrr event at road america this weekend, saw a lot of very sweet rx7s.
I happen to win 1st pace for the modified concourse prize, guess all that yellow silicone hose paid off (hahahaha)
It was also the tuning weekend and we had Steve Kan of GothamRacing in for tuning and tech sessions. He is an easy person to deal with and did a great job on my car. We spent a lot of time together since I was his transportation for the weekend. The first thing we did was a comp test and my engine was very healthy with 8.0 and 7.9 readings. Then we went to the dyno and with the base map (no tuning yet) pulled 248ish (mods listed below)...then 2 pulls later Kan got it to about 280 with a relatively conservative afr, that was pretty dam good concidering the car was heat soaked, the front fans at the dyno sucked, and my car is really not that modified (still has stock cat and intercooler), then he added abit of fuel knowing that a medium ic was going in soon and because my goal was reliable hp for road racing heat and endurance, not one time drag power. He also spent a lot of time tuning part-throttle/deceleration driving making the car more 'drivable' when tooling around. I still have a weird spot that surges during really low cruzing/deceleration that we both could not figure out why, could have been tps setting or sotmhing else, I'll post he area on the map in the pfc section later.
Steve is a great tuner and actually we became pretty good friends over the few days he was here and i recomend him to anyone wanting to fine tune their car.
The disk with the dyno pulls got corrupt, so as soon as i get the runs from the dyno place again I'll post them.
Before we left we stopped at the home of Howard Colman (a VERY accomplished driver) and that was a real treat for me, he had some fantastic stories and great advise for my road racing goals.
Overall it was a sweet weekend and watching the gt/gts racers go arund road america was inspirational.
