looking ahead to the future since i have 86,000miles ....
anyway, was wondering if there are any shops/ stores that sell rebuilt motors
and streetport motors .....without handing in a core...
was planning on keeping my core as an extra motor...

most shops give you the option of all new stuff or just rebuilding the one you give them. A-Spec, Gotham, Pineapple... there's a number of them out there.

You would be better off buying a rebuildable core for ~$500, and having it rebuilt to your specs. Paying for all new plates, housings, rotors, etc will be big $$$, Mazdatrix charges close to $7000 for example. Even Mazda wants a core return when you buy a reman.

 

best bet is to do what banzai racing said, they know what they are doing. you should give them a call before you do anything.

Yes, that would be your least expensive option, if your engine is running well and the compression is good (i.e. you can re-use all your components).

Using another core engine can be a gamble, unless you had an opportinuty to check the compression before it was pulled... you may end up having to replace damaged components. However, it would reduce your downtime if that is a factor.

 

Contact pineapple. I hear they are TOP 3 in engine rebuilding.

 

We have enough parts here to build you a motor without needing your core. There is an added core fee.
