motor mounts question :)

took out the oil pan to fix a leak and was looking at the motor mounts and decided to clean them up.

i took off the metal bracket that goes around the mount on the passenger side and it was fine. when i took off the bracker that went around the aluminum drivers side one the mounting rubber came off. it wasnt bolted thru like the other one. i know one is different than the other..but i mean isnt it supposed to be one piece atleast?

Yeah, on the driver side the rubber is attached to the mount, not bolted through like on the pass side. If your rubber came out, then your mount is totally torn. Mine was torn off too. If you buy a new one from Mazda, the new ones have a bolt through, like the pass side. Mine was about 260 new from Mazda, and I think that was with a 20% discount. You could try buying some polyurethane mounts instead, but you're going to get some vibration as well as noise. Depends how much excess vibration and noise you can tolerate.

I just cut mine off and made some nylon mounts to replace them, they were starting to fail anyway.
Used 1/2inch bolts to make it stronger aswell.

Wanklin is offering a real nice poly mount kit that adds performance without added vibration for around $260. If you havnt already you can check it out here:
