most common nuts and bolts

i've got a bunch of stuff apart and will probably lose some and would like to replace more with new. having a supply of the most common would be helpful during the reassembly.

i've got plenty of auto parts stores and home depots around but is there a website that anyone uses? maybe a specific package that is most appropriate. ray should sell a box of stuff called "everything you need to reassemble your car"

When I need "good" bolts I head over to Metric and Multistandard Components in Dallas. They have other locations as well. I'm not sure if they have minimums for web sales or not.

bookmarked either way, thanks. one of the things I did was remove the headlights and it turns out they were held in with about 1/2 the bolts they should have been.

6x1.0
8x1.25
10x1.25

those 3 sizes in various lengths will cover about 90% of the car.

I know, right? The front bumper is held on by like 6 8mm nuts and the few 10mm bolts on top. If you're not sure what all you need but you want extras handy thats what you need.

i never measure anything by the size of the wrench you use--only the thread pitch.

reason being is when you buy nuts and bolts from the hardware store, they'll very often have a different size top. so the 8x1.25 nuts that hold the water pump on that usually have a 12mm top on them now have a 13mm top. it gets too confusing, so everything is by thread pitch.
