Question mods for stock R1

I have a 100% stock R1 and I am interested spending around 2k in mods. What are some smart mods that would still be of useful for when I am ready to get serious about the car? Any info. will be appreciated…including what kind of boost gage to buy?

you probably want to get:
down pipe
hi flow cat
cat back
intake
ecu
boost gauge

that will probably be over 2k but that is some where to start.

There are hours of reading on this subject in the forum already. How long have you had the car and do you have the history. Since I don't know that, I will start at the begining. You need to do the reliability upgrades first. Change all the fluids. If the thermostat has not been changed out, I would do that and the fuel filter. Next, there is a air seperator tank to the cooling system that is made of plastic. Change that thing out to an alluminum one. These things easily break and will cause the car to overheat. There is a lot of advice out there with different opinions on what to do from here. I live in a hot climate and did not have to worry about passing emissions, so I changed the precat with a downpipe. That made a big difference keeping the car cool. Also remember not to do more than two modifications that increase flow without changing the ECU or getting a new computer. It will cause you to run lean and your engine will not last long. I put on a Defi boost gauge because of the computer it comes with and I wanted the peak hold option. It is also in pounds instead of bars. Cost about $220 from the RX7 store on the icon above. From here, most do a cat back and intake. Like I said above, you can't do anymore to add horsepower unless you change out the computer, so you can do that or get an upgrade to the radiator. This should about take up your first two grand or a lot more depending on what you do.

Assuming your car is up to maintenace specs, ie, new fuel filtre, fluids, etc.

here is my suggestion for 2k

May plan more in future(if you think so or not, probably will)

Power FC $1200 (900 w/o commander)
Downpipe 200
Catback 400
Used Intake 200-300

WHat I would do next

Intercooler $1000-$1500
Midpipe $160

With the last 2 your car will be fast as hell and have maybe 320 RWHP If nothign else get Power FC

You should not have any problems with emissions my upgrading to a downpipe. It will free up about 15 hp, lower under hood temp, and allow for your turbos to last longer (since there is not as much backpressure created by the pre-cat). I passed with flying colors with stock cat and stock cat back but with the m2 downpipe.
I agree with the pfc. That is a great option that I would have done had it not been so expensive.
