Missed shift... sparks??

Casually ran a friend tonight and of course, missed 3rd. He said as soon as we were done that there were sparks coming from the bottom of my car. I pulled over and let it sit for a while, and everything visually looked fine, and he said it didn't spark for the rest of the night. Any ideas... smoked clutch?

I'd say it was probably just coincidence or maybe your friend saw something else, like someone tossed a cigarette out the window or something. I dont' think there's anything on the outside of the car that could cause sparks on a missed shift.

I could be wrong, but it would seem odd that anything could spark on the outside when the working parts of the tranny are all on the inside, no?
