Question Might sell my '94 Rx-7...estimates? (this thread works)

(edit - sorry for the tripple post...stupid forum farts never let me post topics on the first try anymore...)

anyway, I really don't want to do this, but I might need to.

I am trying to transfer schools and I am either going to end up in Boston or NY. I wouldn't be able to bring the car with me, so instead of letting it sit for the next few years I am considering selling it.

It's not definite yet...but I'm considering it.

Well, here are the specs:

- Clean title
- Canadian import model (metric gauges, but has mph too)
- Original motor with 95,xxx original KM (about 59k miles)
- 5 speed tranny (with syncro's replaced)
- Original silver paint (except for on new body parts)
- Black leather interior (great condition, clean & no rips)
- Glass sunroof
- OEM R1 Spoiler
- Carbon fiber 'cwest style' front bumper (painted)
- Carbon fiber 'OEM flaired style' fenders (painted except for kidney vents)
- Carbon fiber 'scoot style' hood (unpainted)
- '99 spec signals
- Mazda OEM "Flying M" badges (from rx7store.net)
- New M2 intake w/ new K&N filters (less than 1,000 miles)
- Polished upper intake pipe
- Aluminum radiator
- New intake manifold & turbo manifold gaskets
- HKS carbon/titanium cat back exhaust
- PFS 'oem style' Boost gauge
- Original OEM "Rx-7" floor mats
- TEIN S-tech springs
- GReddy Turbo Timer
- '99 spec tail light modification
- Optima Red Top battery (relocated to passenger bin)
- RE-Amemiya Aluminum AST
- FEED engine torque brace
- SABELT 4-point harness (stores behind drivers seat, used twice)
- B&M short throw shifter
- Silicone Hoses (silver color)
- Konig Imagine 18"x8.5" rims
- Red painted brake calipers
- Falken GR-Beta FK451 tires 225/40 front, 245/40 rear, (like new tread)
- Numerous other new parts (a/c system, gaskets, sensors, etc)

Condition:
- Motor runs perfect. Never stalls, sputters, or smokes.
- Idles nice and smooth & no problems at high-rpm's either
- Turbos spool fast and smooth, 10lbs of boost, no problems
- Track raced only twice (total of five 1/4 mile runs)
- Over all, very well cared for, washed weekly, waxed monthly.
- Royal Purple Premium Synth oil changed ever 3,000mi.
- Fuel always pre-mixed with Royal Purple TCWIII (4oz per full tank)
- Almost every recipt saved: parts, service, gas (yes, even gas recipts)
- "Check up's" & service done by Lowe's Automotive Rotary Specialists

Problems:
- Front bumper was backed into. Has 3 inch "knife cut" under driver's signal (pic)
Lower lip on bumper is a little scraped and has two 1" cracks near the bottom. Not very noticable except for two cracks in bottom lip. Bumper can easily be repaired by any bodyshop.
- Small "knuckle dent" behind drivers door. Can easily be popped with one of those DIY dent removers.
- Original leather shift **** is a little worn.

The car really is in great condition for a 12 year old Rx-7. Most people think it's brand new. I have owned this car for over 2 years and babied it. The previous owner was even more protective of it (he had two turbo supra's too!). I was told that the original owner was a very wealthy guy who also owned a Viper & other expensive cars...

More pics:

So, what do you guys think it would go for?

How much could I get from an Rx7-educated buyer, and a non-Rx7-educated buyer? heh...

I would be really sad to see her go, but it might have to. :\

Get the rear bumper fixed. I'd guess about $18-19,000 for an educated buyer. If you are talking some kid who goes by KB, yeah, probably $12,000. You don't want to go that route.

Off topic:

When I first bought my RX7 UI loved the scoot hood, then I hated it, and now because of your car I once again love it. Nice car, even nicer picture.

I hope your talking Canadian. That car isn't even almost worth 18k here in the states. People are having trouble getting 18 for cars with 30k miles and in far better condition. Its a nice car but it has almost no real mods (not that they add value anyway), the seats look pretty worn, and the motor has 55k on it. That is pretty low mileage but if I were selling it, I would list it for 16k and take anything north of 15.5. I don't know what the exchage rate is but its a 16 thousand dollar car here in America.

$16k start, under negotiations don't go lower than $14,750

and if the "knuckle dent" can be so easily fixed...why haven't you "easily" fixed it long ago?

Don't sell it.. Keep it in storage..
you put alot of work into her,
and down the road, you'll probably regret it.

Even if you did get 18K+ for it.
What would you get?
that would even remotely look as good, as fast
and give you as much satisfaction?? As your FD?

a 05 Cobalt with power accessories and car payments??

Think it through.

goodluck

Store it. I have a huffy and I live near NYC, you can come pick it up for your downtown errends.

Don't be gay and go to Boston.

Seriously though, Keep it, just store it for later...

Sorry no estimate, but I thought I'd mention I was faced with a similar decision myself and I chose to store the car, because I couldn't stand the idea of how much money I would lose if I sold it (although I might be losing even more keeping it ). Not to mention that I've modded it according to my tastes over the years so simply buying another FD after school and whatever else to get my life started wasn't an appealing option. Just my $0.02.
