Might Get an RX-7

Hey guys, I might trade my accord for a '93 RX-7 soon. After hours of researching, here's what i came up with:

The Cons:

-Horrible mileage =/
-Reliabilty issue
-heats up easily
-Uncomfortable to ride in

These four factors are kinda holding me back. One, although i am using this car for daily commuting, i may be driving it down to college (7 hr ride) and it's going to kill my wallet. Furthermore, is it really that uncomfortable to drive in? Will upgrading some springs and coilover help? As for the heating up problem, it's a major concern because where i will be living in is extremely hot. I don't want to get my first used car and have problems with it, my parents are going to go "see i told you not to get a used car" on me.

Well anyway now im here asking if you experts of RX-7 have any thoughts on this. Thanks

I was new also once, and still no almost nothing but will these damn threads never end?

Yes it is horrible mileage
Reliablility varies
Ofcourse it heats up easily what do you expect an icecream cone?
Ofcourse it is uncomfortable to ride in for long periods it is a sports car. Adding coilovers worsens the problem.

If you don't want a used car that will bring you problems an Rx-7 IS NOT FOR YOU MOVE ON! An Rx-7 is great to own when you have a daily drive other than the Rx-7, when you have a garage, a steady job and do not live with you parents (unless they also own sports cars...)

So forget Rx-7 and stick to the Accord.

Good research.

You listed the CONS, but why not the PRO's?

Unless you can get a beater car? Then I wouldn't even think about it.

-Horrible mileage =/ (YES)
-Reliabilty issue (To some point, YES)
-heats up easily (NO)
-Uncomfortable to ride in (NO)

If you are looking for a car that you can just wash 'n' go, then maybe RX-7 isn't the proper car for you. I'm doing fine with my 7 since I can always catch a bus or subway to work if(when) it breaks up but if you need to drive every day 7 hours to school and back then maybe some other car would suit your needs better, Supra, 300ZX etc.

You can read posts here all you want, it's your decision, we can't (and shouldn't) make it for you.

Personally, I think this is an absolutely stupid car for any college student to own. There are a lot of sporty cars that don't cost much and have the low maintenance requirements you are looking for.

Stay with your accord a bit longer then if you finish your studies and get a job the 7 will be a good option if you really love sports cars.
