Middle Piece Loose on Center Speaker

Car stereo help at http://carstereohelp.com/strZ.htm told me a while back that the broken speaker sound coming from my '93 bose center speaker was a bad amplifier that they would gladly repair for something like $100 if I sent it to them. I had a hard time believing this was the problem from the sound.

Today I found information on the web for removing the center speaker cover. You simply pry up the side of the cover most rearward (closest to you) with a small screwdriver or whatever and then pull the cover towards you (it has securing tabs on the front of the cover). I was suprised how easy it came off. Underneath is a single paper element 2.5" speaker.

The great news is that the speaker's 1" round center dome (called a whizzer I'm told) had come free. I simply took the thin piece of plastic out, put the cover back on and the speaker sounds fine now.

I am still planning on giving business to http://carstereohelp.com/strZ.htm on my receiver whose problems they describe well:

"Fm stereo intermittent with static and squealing. Display back lighting dim, missing pieces in segments on display. Tape will not play or will not eject, $110-135."
