Mice in my glovebox?!?

Not really but here's my problem. A strange sound comes from my glovebox/passengerside footwell. It sounds similar to vacuuming up gravel (without the vacuum noise). If I hit slow moving traffic is starts making the noise. It also happens on startup for a about 15 seconds until the noise fades away. This only occurs occasionally on startup. I'm thinking it may be boiling coolant but there is no hoses in the area and it also occurs when the car is cool. Could something contain sediment, sand or clogged? Could my precat be deteriorating?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Sounds like air/steam in colant system (Heater core) check coolant level - check for combustion products (Carbon) in the coolant - if excessive it could mean your water seals are going away

I was having a problem with coolant being pushed out of the overflow tank but the problem just went away after I change to higher lb caps (18lb AST & RAD CAPS). I even put the original caps back on to see if the problem would reappear but nothing. Since the problem disappeared I have not check my coolant level since the low coolant buzzer has not gone off. Could this still be an issue with my "o" ring?

Check the blow off valve? Might not be the problem. Mine was pretty loud at weird times, and it was a loose hose.

Isn't the BOV near the air box? The noise seems to come from the glovebox...

Thanks for your thoughts

Hey, I may have found your problem...I was having a very similar problem and while I was working on the car last weekend I found in the fender there were some wires that were not secured and can rattle around a bit (not just individual wires, the ones in the corrugated wire holder/protector stuff). I had the wheel well lining peeled back so I could route a wire and I secured that wiring thing a little better and now I don't notice the rattling. Check this out, but you'll have to take off the passenger front wheel and peel back the lining for the wheel well.

Werd.
