Miata Rack into FD

I would like a manual rack setup for my car. I have done the loop and though its not bad for street driving, I think it will hurt my autoX racing. I have a manual rack in an FC and its to slow so I was looking around for other options and found the manual Miata rack is 18:1. This would give me a little less effort and not give up so much of the quickness of the stock rack. Has anyone looked at swaping a miata rack into an FD? If so how different are they? I can machine some custome adapters as long as the angles on the rack aren't completely off. Any ideas?

Also is there an effort difference between a marvel conversion and a looped rack?

You can't run a manual rack for auto-x, period. Even hard core manual steering guys will tell you that! The full Maval conversion should be significantly better than looping the line.

As to your question, I sincerely doubt anyone has done this.

The older miatas and fc's with manual racks get away with auto-x just fine, and yes I know they use a different ratio.

I think if you get the ratio right you should be able to get the best combination of quickness and manual steering efforts. That's why I was looking at the manual miata rack at 18:1.

Anyone auto-x with a maval converted rack?

Older Miatas and manual-steering FCs only weigh 2300-2600 lbs too. And run much smaller rubber up front.

There are quite a few posts about the Maval conversion feel and effort....I know Ptrhahn has commented thoroughly on his.

I should be around 2600-2700 lbs so a still believe a manual rack can be used for auto-x. Though you may not be able to use the stock one which is why I posted about the miata rack. I have run a looped rack and didn't find much about the difference between a looped rack and a marval rack's difference in efforts.
