megan racing midpipe = noise? searched

hey guys,

picked up my megan racing midpipe tonignt from my buddy who hooked me up greatly.. I appreciate it , and put it in. right off the bat i noticed no hanger on it so i knew i was going to get some noise problem lol.

So all i can tell it's hitting is the rear frame brace (the brace thats held on with 4 bolts right where the midpipe and catback meet). Every fruggin bump I hit, the exhaust taps that bracket (I think tahts all, overall it felt really solid when i attempted to shake it).

Now my catback is peter farrell, whom installed it at his shop so I know thats all bolted up correctly hanger wise. Is there anything solution sort of taking the MP off and having a exhaust shop weld up a hanger on it? I am planning on doing this at some point, however I just wanted a temp fix that won't start my car on fire .

P.S. - Im running a power FC so don't go hounding me on that, and I'm aware of boost creep and such as rich farrell and me have already talked about this numerous times. I'm not driving the car till I get my wastegates ported and a good boost controller setup so, it's all good fellas!

See the other thread on midpipes for more info., but if you properly adjust the PFC you may not need to worry about porting the wastegate.

I'd start by wrapping the brace with "header wrap". It will not burn and will muffle the bumping. It will also protect the aluminum brace from the heat. Hold it on with stainless tie wire.

My mid-pipe never had a hanger, and the downpipe hanger wasn't bolted to the transmission, and I never had a problem (except the HKS Superdragger canister muffler would hit the ground on steep driveways, but that's another story ;-).

very cool dave, i think I have some extra hanging around somewhere. I sure hope its my exhaust or a problem just developed over the course of me jacking it up hah. So far i've only gone 1/2 throttle on the car and its a freakin beast with a MP. Wow what a difference
