McMaster Carr Throttle Body Gasket

Is it just me or is the gasket just a little bit too big? Did I get the wrong one? Is there a trick to it?

I got one from a friend who, I think, ordered them from MC. It was just a mm or so off...just enough so that it didn't want to stay in the groove. FWIW, I used a small daub of silicone to hold it in place. It's been several years, no issues.

Yep, use silicone, crisco, or something similar to hold in place. Never a bad idea to put silicone around the whole throttle body as most leak even with a new o-ring. I've seen them leak several times at 15psi+ with water/meth injection spraying out of the top where the UIM and TB meet.

Ok thank you. Does the OEM gasket fit correctly or is it a little big as well?

OEM fits like it should, it's not big or anything. But like others have said, it may even leak with a new OEM gasket so some use RTV or a similar silicone to seal it up.

I remember asking at my local dealership for an OEM one. IIRC they wanted something like $12 and I'd have to wait since it wasn't in stock. And that was some years ago. I bet they haven't gotten cheaper.
