Mazdaspeed struts / shocks for AutoX

Since I have to keep the stock springs in SCCA SuperStock class, are the Mazdaspeed shocks ($245/each) at Corksport a good shock to use that has adjustments for both compression and rebound ?

Converting "yellow" Koni's to double-adjustable, will be VERY expensive, and the GAB Super R's are discontinued and non-buildable.

Anyone have first hand knowledge ?

TIA,
:-) neil

The Mazdaspeed adjustable struts are a direct replacement strut offers adjustability in rebound and dampening to make you car handle the way you want it to. The struts are 4 position adjustable and adjust rebound and dampening. The fronts adjust from the top of the strut and the rears adjust from the side. The struts are made to work with ABS and non ABS vehicles. We recommend installing the Mazdaspeed struts with performance springs to get the most from the struts.

You don't need double adjustable shocks unless your really one of the best drivers out there. If you are one of the best drivers out there and you want to win you shouldn't be running a FD, you should be running a Z06.

What is wrong with Koni's?

GAB R shocks aren't double adjustable, those shocks were on the National winning FDs back in the day.

I thought the GAB "super" R's were double-adjustable, and were these ones used "back in the day".

I drove in a RX7 with Koni's and the rebound just didn't feel right, IMHO.

I may not be the fastest Nationally, but I'm going for 1st regionally in SS, since my H-stock times were fairly close to the Z06 times in SS.

PS: re-reading the description, perhaps these are only single adjustable just like the Konis . . .

The Z06 driver must suck if an H-stock car is close to the same times.

I have the GAB Rs, they only have one **** on them.

You think double adjustable Konis are expensive but you're willing to spend $1000 on single adjustable shocks???

You can get Konis for $550 a set. Drive them a couple seasons and then have them revalved if you ndesire. You can have them rebuilt and revalved to your specs for just over a $100 each IIRC.

If you're on stock shocks now you're going to think the Konis are great, the car will be much better.

Nop. Single adjustable just like a Koni. They are also so stiff as to be uncomfortable for daily driving but if you need that much you can always have a Koni revalved for cheap.

What does the rebound not feeling right feel like to you?

Coming up from a dip, Koni yellows feel like a pogo-stick to me. Compression is good though. That's why I'd like independently double-adjustable.

You're probably right, and just get Koni yellows for now.
