mazda reman engine
what is the overall quality of mazda remanufactured engines? Are they the recommended choice for a stock engine rebuild? What is the average life in terms of miles for those of you who have had a mazda reman?

Not the engine of choice
I've had three mazda remans. I don't think it's the engineer of choice. It seems pineapple racing is a popular place.
The mazda reman is kind of a crap shoot as far as quality. A friend of mine who sees them several times a month said they have been coming with new housings lately because so many replaced motors are don't have good housings. Both my remans had (have) two new housings.
The second one died right away because of an oil leak from a defect in the housing. Bet I'm the first guy to get that!
The third motor is still running !!!!!! Knock on wood. It's got about 5k miles so it's making nice power and has great oil pressure and vacuum.
For me it's a good choice because I'm still under warrentee. If your on a budget and can't afford a more I think the remans are about $2250 plus install.
