mazda reman core?
mazda reman core?
Does anyone know what will disqualify a core for a Mazda reman. I have a engine that was ported but needs new rotors and housings. I was thinking about getting the Mazda reman but don't want to get bit with that 1,000 core charge.
I don't think that Mazda is as picky about the cores as other rebuilders. This is because they take what they get and reuse only what is good. Porting or modification parts are discarded and replaced with good used or new parts. Here, cores are $750 at Mazda (in Pennsylvania).
Other rebuilders charge slightly less for cores, but will nail you for bad housings/bad rotors because they count on them being good enough to reuse. Otherwise, they have to dish out the extra money for new ones.
I think the main thing is that the motor is not disassembled. This way, Mazda knows that the core is not just a bunch of bad parts reassembled to be used as a core.

actually for fd motors mazda is picky. the core is $1000 nationally. they wont care about the porting, just as long as you have all the stuff on the outside you are ok
