Hi, it seems that you guys swap out LSDs more often than most FC guys do, if you could read over this and offer any insight you may have, Id really appreciate it. Thanks.

That doesn't sound right at all. I've had a bad clutch-type rear end in a Dakota RT and I just blew out the diff in my FD, so I guess I'm slowly starting to have some experience with this. With the clutch-type, the truck started sounding like it was squealing a wheel when turning in parking lots. It sounded a lot like the small squeal that a SUV makes when you turn the front wheels all the way in a parking lot.

When I ruined my Torsen, I was getting sounds like you were slamming a sledgehammer into the pumpkin as hard as you could, and the whole car would shake. It would happen most at slow speeds when turning sharply.

However, your situation sounds like it may not be either of these two. As others said, it sounds like maybe it's totally locked, and the wheel hops and squeals when it builds up enough tension. May be due to bad lash tolerances, though I really don't know much about that. Good luck!

Thanks alot, I just dropped the rear subframe and pulled the rear end out again, and am in the process of trying to troubleshoot my problem. The only thing that I cant really do well is set the backlash, because I dont have a diff stand or a dial gauge, so I may end up taking it down to the local speed shop. Can anyone tell me if improper backlash adjustment would cause this type of binding of the LSD? Thanks.
