This may seem like a silly question but...

I was reading a thread on here and someone said their car was flooding and wouldnt start until they changed the oil because there was too much fuel in the oil.

Is that possible? I can understand that the chambers need good oil to build compression... but will the OMP even put out enough oil under cranking situation to even build the compression up? What if someone is premixing would fuel in the gas have any effect on it starting?

I can understand wanting to change the oil soon so that it lubricates well, but to get it to start?

Thoughts?

no not true. buy the time you changed the oil it would have evaporated most of if not all of the gas and passabley not be flooded anymore.

yes but only if you are using too much premix. it can foul the plugs out.

I meant would fuel in the oil pan (caused from excessive flooding) have any effect on those that run premix. since the OMP is often discarded.

But i personally dont think the gas in the oil could affect it either way.

I will add this.. I dont think if its flooded bad the gas will evaporate. Not in that short amount of time, maybe after a couple days or something. Possibly longer. Those combustion chambers really dont have anywhere for that fuel to get out to easily. Thats why in most of the serious deflood procedures we remove the plugs and crank it for awhile to get the fuel out through the plug holes.

The only way i could see fuel in the oil having an effect is if normally the OMP would supply enough oil on the chamber walls to build compression. Then the excess fuel in the oil could it to wash down and not be thick enough.

But guys that dont run their OMP wouldnt have oil being added to the walls.

And i have a feeling the OMP doesnt supply enough oil to build the compression anyways.
