Manual vs Automatic... Fuel Tank?

I just noticed the manual and automatic fuel tanks have different part #s (and prices). What's the deal with that?

F11142110A vs F11142110B

Same pic on the parts diagram but $100 difference in price. Is it kicked out different for trans routing somehow? Come to think of it, I've never even seen the underside of an automatic. Any compatibility issues one way or another?

Those are identical part numbers, the A and B at the end just show revisions to the part. I know they did revise the gas tank at one point with better baffling.

Just looked it up using Tasca Parts' site, it only recognizes the "A" number.

Regardless, I don't think there is any difference.

Yep. Ray Crowe just confirmed - "B" is NLA. Only "A" with the updated baffling is available. All the sites I saw had "A" listed for Manual Trans and "B" for Auto Trans which got me scratching my head.

Yeah the tank in my automatic looked to be identical to the one in our manual car when we had them up on the hoist. No physical differences.

One baffled different internally to the other, but that is not an auto vs manual thing. It was a fuel starvation thing I'm betting.

Mazda did a lot of the updates and revisions with A, B, C, etc. Just like the numbers on the factory engine ECUs changed as they made revisions.
