Manual Transmission Fluid

Gonna swap the fluid in my transmission this weekend when I change the clutch anyone know what's reccomended replacement??? Sorry if it's a dumb question but I want to make sure and do it right. Thanks...

Get a good syn and you'll be fine. RP/Redline/Neo/etc.

I assume I should use a gear oil, yes? What weight?

Redline MT-90 et al. don't have an adequate amount of friction modifiers in them for the synchros. Shifting is smoother when the fluid is cold, when it is warmed up, there tends to be an *increase* in notchiness when quick shifting. IMO, the higher cost of synthetics isn't worth it. You can use the less expensive regular transmission fluid that's recommended in the owner's manual and it'll work just fine.

mobil1 75w90... you can get it at your local kragen or autozone. i have it in my transmission and differential.

NEO synthetic is best, but expensive.
RedLine 75W-90 is good enough.

RE-Amemiya race cars use both.
JUN use NEO
