Get a good syn and you'll be fine. RP/Redline/Neo/etc.

I assume I should use a gear oil, yes? What weight?

Redline MT-90 et al. don't have an adequate amount of friction modifiers in them for the synchros. Shifting is smoother when the fluid is cold, when it is warmed up, there tends to be an *increase* in notchiness when quick shifting. IMO, the higher cost of synthetics isn't worth it. You can use the less expensive regular transmission fluid that's recommended in the owner's manual and it'll work just fine.

Hey thanks for the advice to read the manual PVerdieck, gee I would never have thought of that on my own. Guess maybe it would help if I had one.

NEO synthetic is best, but expensive.
RedLine 75W-90 is good enough.

RE-Amemiya race cars use both.
JUN use NEO
