Manual Tranny Stuck in Reverse

I just put the tranny back in my car after having the 5th gear synchro replaced. Problem is now that its back in the car the Shifter is in the neutral position but the car is stuck in reverse. I can move the shifter to the left to right easily, but not completely in the 5/Rev direction (Right). I took the shifter out, the springs are functioning correctly, I just can't move the shifter into any of the gears. I know its reverse because I started the car and it automatically jump backwards and the reverse lights are on. My mechanic that fixed it said he had it moving through all the gears before he gave it back to me.

Any suggestions? The tranny is currently full of tranny oil.

Take it back to your mechanic. He has not got something right in the shifter mechanism. There are positioning forks on the end of each shifter rod in the transmission. If these forks are not aligned properly, the shifter will not be able to push the 5th/rev rod back and forth to move it in and out of gear. If he did not put the locking pins in properly, the shifter positioning forks may have moved out of position.
