Manual Engine Vs Auto Engine

Are ther any differences mechanically between the Manual transmission Engine unit on an FD and an Auto unit also on an FD. I have located and extra bolt hole and slight difference in rear Iron bellhousing shape (around this extra hole) and was wondering if that was it???

I ask as I have found an auto unit which i need to drop into a race car with a manual box.

Regards
Glen

Yep, that's basically it, the rear iron is different. I believe the manual tranny will bolt up, if you look in the automatic-manual conversion threads you'll find some more info.

Hi Thanks for the info, yeah I am aware about the counter weight and housings, was wondering if the e-shaft was the same and if the port design and all other parameters are the same.

yup, as far as the short block itself, the only difference is the rear iron. there is a cutout on the drivers side of the iron, i dont know what mounted there, but its about 3-4" by 1.5" or so. the manual tranny will bold up just fine, thats what i have in my car and i had no problems at all. of coarse you'll need to swap the counterweight with a manual flywheel.
