Manual Boost Controller + Piggy Back ECU

I've been told that a piggy back ecu like the PFS purple is not compatible with a manual boost controller set up eg. the one that mounts on the both restrictor pills lines and by pass the solenoids, or even electronic BC.

The purple box manages the boost itself and therefore both BC+Purple box cannot work together.

I rely on the person who told me that but I'd like to have more explanations here.

I really need imo the MBC to get rid of my 17 psi spike at transition, but then it means that I can't have a piggy back fuel management system?

Other question: bypassing the solenoids as per Damian set-up, it means that the ECI doesn't se how much boost is coming into the engine then? How can it manage the fuel injection and other parameters right then?

That's not true. You can install a proper boost controller at any point in time. The PFS box *might* get cranky that it's not controlling boost, but I wouldn't think so.

Matter of fact, I remember a number of guys back in the day running the PFS box with a Profec B.

The factory boost control is IMHO a BIG problem on any modified car. It will only work right with factory intake/exhaust - on my car, with JUST a downpipe/catback, I had boost spikes. Get rid of the pills and run a proper boost controller - this is one of the better early mods you can do. But, you do have to make sure and run the RIGHT amount of boost for your car - if you have a factory ECU, run 10psi, that's it. Resist the temptation to turn it up.

IMHO, I prefer an electronic boost controller - much nicer to adjust from the cockpit than jumping out of the car and popping the hood multiple times. Also, I like being able to select low/high boost and turn it off as well. You can get good used boost controllers for VERY reasonable prices on Ebay - probably near what you would spend for 2 good manual boost controllers.

Thanks Dale, too late Hallman MBC are already on their way. Their purpose will be to get the boost down to stock level, which actually nearly is except this f... spike!

But with my open intake and exhaust, I fear running lean and I wondered why not invest in a proper fuel management system like the PFS purple box.

Caping the vent on the actuators hence on the solenoids, have no effect on the fuel management??
