Manual boost controller differences

I'm in the market for a boost controller right now, and don't really want to drop a wad on an electronic controller. I plan on getting a manual boost controller such as the Dawes device. There are several on the market right now and I was wondering if there are any differences in them other than the way they look. Is one better than another? What is the best one? What is the cheapest one? I have searched, but wanted a comparison type of thing. Who is currently running a manual boost controller (other than the Home Depot Valves)?
Thanks

http://www.mm-racing.com/mbc.htm This one looks like the Dawes boost controller but even cheaper. I'll probably buy one pretty soon. Are there any controllers to stay away from?

Why not get the turbo xs boost controller? For the money you can't beat it...

If I can get the same thing out of a less cosmetically attractive controller for 1/3 the price of the turbo XS then I don't see a reason to get the higher priced controller.

We all drive very nice cars... I do not see why you'd want to cheap out and get a plumbing device to control boost.

Get the Turbo XS unit. I would prefer the High performance one. Suppose to get boost faster than a
normal valve. And looks good too.

Let me know if you get one and how it is...

I just went to a Hallman manual boost controller, switched to that from an avcr on my non-sequential turbos. I like it a lot, it was easy to tune and works great. It was nice being able to change the boost whenever though, now I just leave it at 17psi, before I would usually just run 12 or 15.

Look at the latest issue of SCC (sport compact car). They have a write up about boost controls both manual and electronic. If you take a look at the boost control profiles, the Profec B is the clear choice (i.e. most accurate)

I read the SCC article too. I liked the very sharp response of the Blitz...there's no roll off as you approach your boost set point. If I was in the market for a boost controller, I'd probably either get the Blitz or the Profec-B.

The ball valve controllers do a nice job though (I used a Dawes for a while on my car)...they're just not as good as a good electronic controller though.
