Lightbulb manifold difference 93 rx7 and 96 jspec (pic)

the 93 rx7 has a an additional air passage about the size of a dime vented to the main manifold exhaust on the rear rotor exhaust manifold, the 96 manifold jspec has that airflow completely blocked off, was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on that? i swapped out the manifolds because i messed up some of the nuts and bolts on my jspec .

The 93 is the one to the left with the dime size hole the 96 is one to the right with that area blocked of, incidentally that passage way is still on the engine block

it isn't a year split difference, it's a country of sale difference.

J-spec manifolds block that passage off, even on FCs.

Would using the jdm manifold on USDM engine be a bad idea then?

I believe that's part of the EGR system...... are you still running emissions?

The EGR system is worthless on the FD. I'd run the one without the EGR tube. Leave the EGR system so you don't get a check engine light, but all the hard work (hydrocarbons) are handled by the airpump and cat. You'll be able to pass emissions just fine with that manifold, and it flows better without the silly EGR pipe sticking into the exhaust flow.
