main pulley w/ A/C P/S eliminated

can i just run the rear half of the main pulley if i've eliminated the a/c and powersteering?

wouldn't this be a 50% weight reduction??

Why not run the Unorthodox Racing "R", pulley? It replaces the main pulley and only drives the alternator and waterpump.

I was thinking about that same thing. i don't get why these pulleys are so expensive though. I mean think about it. I can buy the standard issure pulley for like less than 20 dollars, so how come a pretty blue pulley costs 120 dollars for a set? LOL.....

I don't understand that either.. Damn.. Someone is making some serious cash.. These pulleys can't be that expensive to make..

I would understand if they are spinning in 100K.. I used centrifuge at work that spins at 140K per minute.. and thr rotor needs to be perfectly made.. But not some small 3-4 inch pulley??

Sell the $hit you don't need anymore and use that to buy the pulley. It's just $100.00 ****.
These are the only ones that I know of that offer the main pulley that drives only the waterpump and alternator.
Sure if you wan't invest the time and money and get the thing machined on a CNC machine yourself go for it.

Garfinkle s son makes custom pullies .Check with Roterbrain . He has made the double crank pully the idler with the bearing in from the rear , for looks, the power stearing pully, the water pump pully with out the center hole, for looks, a cover for the AC pully .

You can take off the front section of the stock pulley for your application. I did it on my fd. I actually had the pettit main pulley and took off my ps and ac and switched to the stock pulley without the front section. i like my car to be fully charged all the time.

It does come apart but i'm not sure how safe it is. I have the UR main pully that is just a smaller stock one. Does anyone know if that comes apart too? I cant remember.

anyone have pics of just the back half of the main pulley on the motor? Is there any hp gains since removing the half, its pretty heavy? 2 pieces come off when removing the front half do i leave the small bracket piece on or leave it off?
