Yeah, I'm not a fan of the "Folgers style" outlet on the Greddy SP either, but I prefer the standard oval muffler to the round "real Folgers style" canisters I see everywhere.

To second Jason's opinion, if it weren't for the droning at highway cruising, I'd be more than satisfied with the Greddy SP.

i am really thinking about getting the RB exhaust, love the look, quality is Definitely there, how do you think it would sound on my car? i got an M2 downpipe, highflow cat, someone mentioned something about a tinny sound with the RB WOT? is that true.. i was always under the impression that it sounds nice and low...

The RB dual tip comes in polished 304 SS and painted 409 SS. I am not sure about the material used for the piping and flanges. My 409 RB cat-back weighs 31 lbs versus 34 or so for the stock one. I think part of being quiet involves more weight, unfortunately.

I just got a fix-it ticket for a loud muffler, despite the fact that I have a resonated midpipe from SR and the old (RS*R) RB dual tip cat-back. I also have a little exhaust leak, and I was "gunning it" when the police officer heard it, which are some additional circumstances of note in this case. I am not sure that it is really too loud from a legal standpoint, but I would be happier if it was quieter. I've got a Borla XR-1 Race muffler to weld into the midpipe and I need to get my WG dump tube plumbing fixed up so it doesn't leak. Hopefully it will be nice and quiet after that. I might put a cat on it in addition to or instead of the midpipe muffler, too, so that it won't stink so bad.

Your turbo setup makes a huge difference in how loud the car is. The stock sequential system totally ******* rocks from the standpoint that it keeps the car quiet at idle and cruising even if you have a pretty open exhaust system. Going non-sequential or single significantly increases the noise level under those conditions. The difference is enormous.

My RX6 single also has a tubular manifold and a very thin SS downpipe. I think it would be a lot quieter with a thicker downpipe, so I'd like to try some ceramic coating and perhaps some header wrap to increase its mass and sound deadening properties. I also suspect that cast manifolds are quieter since they have more mass. I'll probably get my manifold ceramic coated to both reduce the heat transfer and hopefully quiet it down a bit. The heavy manifolding on the stock turbos probably helps with noise abatement a fair amount.

Lots of good info here

That RS-R seems pretty damn cool. Especially since I really don't like polished exhaust systems. Its under the freakin car - who cares how shiny it is? Sleeper good. Not into bling... Wish the manufacturers would screw the polish and charge us $100 less.

Considering its impossible to find an RB, I think I'm starting to lean towards the M2. From what you guys are saying, the M2 dual and RB dual seem to be very equivalent.

I think I will get annoyed at the Greddy SP over time due to the droning at highway cruising so I think I'll scratch that one off the list. I spend most of my time driving it not hanging my head outside to listen to the output.

Anyone with input on the HKS turbo or the PFS exhaust?

Although I'm not after the exhaust that is going to give me the highest HP increase, I have a feeling the HKS turbo exhaust is going to provide some nice HP numbers compared to the others. Its nicely priced too.

Jason - The dyno test sounds spectacular! Wish we had one already. However, I don't know about everyone else, but I'm never going to watch the videos. I'd rather hear some audio of the exhaust at idle, part throttle and full throttle. VERY few of those supposed exhaust sounds and vids in the sticky actually work...

Jason, The testing sounds great. I look forward to seeing the results. Your providing a great service to the RX-7 community. I'm also looking forward to the next group buy. (on the RB dual tip that is)

Got to agree ... the audio files would make for faster downloads as well ...

The testing idea sounds great. I've been considering getting the N1 Duals to *sorta* maintain a stock looking exhaust but don't want announce my presence. Don't get me wrong about the HKS Turbo mufflers, they're great but the single tip sorta hints that my car isn't stock.

I believe that if you are going to get a mp and dp, then you probably need a pettit, m2, or RB duals. It sounds awesome, but not annoying loud. I thought my older style RB would be loud at WOT, but it is actually a pleasant race car sound to me, but not nearly as loud. I know the N1's are loud with just a DP, a N1 w/ dp is louder then my RB with mp and dp.

Anyway at idle it sounds awesome, just throaty, but when you hit it, it sound AAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEESOME. Like a race car. It also will not draw attention from your popo either. Good Luck with your choice.

I have the M2 dual tip. Sounds amazing with a DP and N-Tech high flow cat. Very deep and throaty sound at low rpm's. At WOT it sounds great and is not too loud or too quiet. It's constructed very well, and the fitment is perfect.

Glassman - sending you the greddy clip as I type this.

I had a Greddy titanium and it was mean at WOT, real throaty. There was a little drone on the highway but I got used to it the first day I drove it. Idle was a deep growl, almost like a gargling sound. I had the main cat and a SS dowpipe.

The main reason I got rid of my Greddy SP. Great sound otherwise.
