M2 medium IC fit?

Hey guys...just installed an M2 medium IC, but I seem to be having some problems with fitment. I have the stock air pump in place, but the problem seems to be the pipe going from the y-pipe to the IC. It bulges out a bit so that the hood is a little out of line on the passenger side when closed.

Does anybody have any idea how I could get around this problem? Was it installed incorrectly?

Also the hood prop doesn't want to stay in the plastic clasp that holds it in place when closed because of the IC duct.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Allen

you have to cut the some material off the turbo to ic pipe...the part that goes into the ypipe...that way it will sit lower and not rub the hood...(as bad anyways)

I tried warning everybody....

Ok here goes.... The airpump needs to be modified in order to fit the pipe going from the turbo to the intercooler. You need to cut the top screw off and rotate it and the airpump hose a little in order to make the pipe fit. Also the fiberglass duct often also needs to be trimmed in order for it to fit. Watch out for it, if you drive your car a lot and the duct is rubbing against your fan relays, it can short out your fans (this happened to me, it's a bitch and cost a lot to fix if you don't work on your car yourself). Another thing you need to watch out for is that pipe going from the turbo to the IC. If you have a strut tower bar, you should bang it in a little or else it'll bang against your tower bar and chew through the thing. Then you need to watch out for hood clearence. The stupid IC pipe was so thick that it ate through my hood. Everything else should be straight forward, all it requires is a little relocating and refitting and you should be fine. Have fun.

I posted my little take on the subject a little while back in another thread. Here's a cut-and-paste, hope that helps.

"IC: Those pipes do rub, just like everyone else has experienced. If you take a lot of care installing it, they can bemade to not rub or rub marginally on the street but when you drive it hard or take it to the track and go WOT on and off they will move and start rubbing. Take my word for it, I've been there and adjusted them whichever way I can, including denting them to clear the air pump intake pipe and using a longer rubber hose for the air pump intake (see above). The reason is that the "crossover" pipe itself is not secured down like the stock piece is, and the I/C is not secured as well. Lift up on the IC right at the juncture where the pipe from the turbos connect to it and you will see what I mean. To get around this (and to save my hood liner which btw costs $200 from the dealer) I used a nylon webbing strap and strapped the I/C down to the cross member below it (where it used to be secured to in the stock setup). Furthermore there are some dents strategically placed in the IC pipe (I did this before I went the strapping route). Finally, I think I'm happy with this.

Their duct too had to be trimmed before install or it would hit up against the side of the Mazdacomp radiator... but no biggie. The top right (facing the car) part of the duct does rub against the hood prop rod though so that is somewhat of a source of annoyance."

To add to that, I've found that if you position the I/C as far back as possible (holding it in that position via the hose clamps) you can scoot the duct back just a little, and that should give you a little more clearance from the prop-rod.
