Question Loud noise from engine bay, then motor died

i was driving on the freeway and heard a loud ruckus in my engine area, then it sounded like somthing tore apart. car died and power loss was obvious.no smoke, no oil,no coolant leaking. once i had it towed home i had cranked it a couple times.i noticed some belt particles.it wanted to start everytime but there was a loud screaching noise by the main pulley and alternator area. My belts are still on and no visible problem is noticable. how should i go through my elimination process to find the problem?

Remove the belts and see which pulley doesn't spin. Most likely just a seized pulley, AC, PS, Idler.

Renamed your thread....please don't start a new thread just to change the name and please don't listen to that member from your other thread....you'll get your best responses by simply stating the problem in the thread title!

When my air pump seized I had white smoke from the belt burning off and it made a nasty noise.

Car died and power loss? Well there won't be any power with the engine off. Do you mean you lost power and then it shut off?

Based on how you phrased your question, I say take it to a good RX7 shop and have them check it out. You do not have the skills to procede further.

Wow you can deduce that he is not able to diagnose his problem because of the way he phrased his question? That is some skill.

Don't take it too personal. Mistakes can be costly! He meant well just didn't phrase his reply eloquently. He actually has alot of knowledge with the FD, just not very subtle about his posts. But then again, he is alot more matured then most of us youngsters "lol".

You have about 5 min to edit your thread. You edit it the same way you edit a reply. There is a edit button on the bottom right after you post (for a limited time).

Start turning accesories by hand with a wrench, did you see what your oil pressure was when it happened?
