Lost my 3rd gen almost my life (pic)

http://www.gazzettadimodena.quotidia...naca/dc102.htm

I dont know if that link would work but it should...the story is I was in a coma for about 10 days but in the end that car and the fact that I was wearing my seatbelt like a always do...saved my life

the problem is a remember absolutely nothing and the lying **** police here as soon as they found out I was a young american with a sports car are blaming it on me....eventhough the other person involved LEFT the scene and then came back

the only stars here were the fire men that spent 1 hour getting me out of what is left of my ride (which is nothing eventhough the picture looks like something) and the EMS guys and doctors that saved me

shattered my entire left leg and am full of metal on that side. I had a head trauma and lost a lot of blood and they also induced a coma (something they do here) to keep down brain swelling..

I really have had so much support from my friends and family and the worst thing is it happened in italy and nobody could get real info until they got here

the story is
1) Besides for the emergency services...italy SUX...especially the **** cop that is saying I rearended somebody (even though there is not a scratch on the front of my car and the other person left)
2) Wear seatbelts
3) Dont crash the best car ever
4) If for any chance you do, trust that our cars are absolutely incredible interms of even crash structure....I am alive and will be 99 percent recovered to tell about it!

Peace guys....oh and dont worry...as soon as I get some more money (which wont be for a while) another RX7...and probably rx8 is on my list....our cars are INCREDIBLE

WOW, when I look at those pictures I consider that a miracle that you survived at all.

There is nothing left of that RX-7. But most important is that you are okay, and cars are replaceable; lives are not.

I think this is a testament to how strong our cars are

Best of wishes on finding a new car and recovery on your leg and head

looks suspiciously like you ate a tree (tho not the one in the pic). Have you had someone look at the accident site to see what marks were left behind? Yeah, the polizei will say it's your fault, but you COULD NOt have rearended anyone in that car. The only part LEFT is the nose. Bizarre....

Glad you are ok over there. Heal well

Dont feel bad, I am an american and I was blamed my fualt when I hit a guy in the wrong lane. They said it was my fualt becuase I was already out of controll( I wasnt out of control, i call it a damn good 4-wheel slide). agian, Im glad your ok.. sorry about your car!! it can be replaced,

I don't feel the need to defend the Police, but the newspaper article says that Police are not ruling out mechanical failure, high speeds in the area (? whatever that means), or driver capacity affected by illness(?translation uncertain). They go on to say that at the time of the accident there was almost no traffic and that you would have lost control of your car before hitting (not rearending) a BMW and then hitting a series of parked cars.

Anyway.. it was a doosy of a crash, and its good to see that you are ok. Makes you think of how fast these things happen and how much trouble is really avoided with all those "close-calls" that we all get.

Now it's time for you to get a hopped up Lancia Delta S4.

Wow, what an incredible crash and story of survival - you are incredibly lucky to be coherent and in one piece (sort of) after that ordeal. Good luck to you on your recovery and glad to hear your spirit is still alive.

I really could not help but laughing though at the newspaper article, when I checked it out there was an ad for a bottle of wine directly above the crash picture!

La dolce vita! (friggen' Italians - go figure, they are absolutely the WORST drivers anywhere in the world - I have no doubt it was not your fault)

Don't let those bastards grind you down - I know you can find a competent crash investigator to back you up.

How the hell can you rear end someone yet not have a scratch on the nose?

Have you thought about a convertible for your next car?
You've already got a pretty good start........

(Sorry, they do say that laughter is the best medicine)

glad your ok.

I guess now you dont have to worry about the window/door lock problem you had. It really puts things in perspective, huh?

REALLY glad your ok.

"With its car, a Mazda, has skidded and after a series of carambole against the cars in pause, it has crashed against a tree."

Goddamn right it has crashed against a tree.

But that aside, what in the hell where you doing? Street racing? Looks like a residential area to me, and that doesn't look much like a 30-35 mph impact... Of course I could be wrong, but it certainly looks like you were up to something you shouldn't have been.

Glad you're all right, though. Hopefully you learned something valuable from the experience and aren't going to be pulling any more "caramboles against the cars in pause" in the near future.

... and the stalk of one of the trees next to the road.

Glad to hear you're ok.

FYI: the FD tested pretty high (4 out of 5 stars) in crash testing.

I've looked long and hard for crash test results, never found a thing...any links?

I DO know that they designed the engine to submerge under a frontal impact. Pretty good thinking for 1990.
