haha! True! But look at it this way - it'll sound different than any other RX-7 out there - and it least if it's making noise, then you're diving it!

Its a site as well as a shop although most people do the swap themselves if you're mechanically inclined, have some time, and some friends to help.

yea im not sure what do do with mine yet. Whatever i do i want to keep it though. Right now its leaking coolant. not sure where from and also the idle is real rough with low vaccum. I dont know what it is. If i do need a new engine or rebuild i dont know if i should do a streetport with a single or an ls1?

I wouldnt give up on it yet, crappy idle and coolant leaks are a common thing for these cars, from what i hear.

you cant have a car and expect it to never be maintained. especially an FD.

Nah, reality is soon gonna hit all of FD owners whose cars are down.

I was soo against it in the past but little by little it was taking me over. Im sure people who thought the same went through the same, and now have the LS1 in their car.

I was on the hinson website, the actual swap part completion alone is like 3500 roughly + engine and tranny = 6-7k

How much do rotary rebuilds go for nowadays? 3500 starting? Plus you always spend more cause you want to install something else because "engine is out" anyway. So the bill comes out to 5k+ on average. This swap is soo much affordable and the out of pocket expense comes out to like a weeks worth paycheck. I think its really worth it. Plus some people have their car down for months so im sure another month or 2 doing this swap will be worth it.

Def something to think about as winter approaches.

Cause im in the same boat as the other guy, i really dont want to sell my car. I promised myself i wont. But this might be my last resort to keep my interest otherwise it will go.

Im still getting the supra though

i think its the same as a GUY getting his weinner cut off and putting somehting that does not belong IN lol. no matter how easy it may seem, DEEP inside your going to feel very funnny about having a v8 in a true race import.

All it takes is just saying "fuckit - LS1". The swap is really not the bad. And it is SO worth it.

I do feel funny about it, im not a fan of swaps at all. Especially swaps into rx7s. I believe our rotarys are what makes our cars different from the others.

Obviously..

And thats why its better for some change.

Just think of the LS1 swap as a ***** enlargment surgery. haha

You are embarassed about it, skeptical and feel funny about the whole thing. But when its done. BOY you're gonna be happy.

i would like to stay with a rotary. I want to find out what is wrong with mine and try to fix it. I mean i just bought the power fc and a high flow cat so i dont want that to be for nothing. if anyone knows why the idle would be rough but then it drives fine i would like to know what it is and how it can be fixed.

If your really having that many problems, and this one turns out to be "fatal" to the engine, maybe the 13B is not for you. Alot of things go bad on a 13 year old car, before you swap consider that. V8 or Rotary powered the FD is a great car, and its sad to hear somebody having so many problems when its such a fun car.

first thing first check your turbo coolant hose, main radiator hoses, throttle body coolant hose, have you atleast dont that before you call it over.

So it still leaks coolant when the car is cold?

Your going to have to hunt for it a little, coolant leaves a pretty nice path so it should not be to hard. Just check anything that looks remotly suspicious real well, its extremely hard to spot a leaky hose if its just split so you really need to be feeling the hoses.

If you are having to add quite a bit of coolant Im going to say you've lost a coolant seal. I had this happen to me two months ago and hopefully I'll have the car back up and running next week sometime (if work leaves me alone lol).

If you can't afford to do the car right then sell it, no shame in admitting that you are over your head.

Also if you want a LS1, I hear there is this very nice car that actually comes stock with that engine. Its called a Corvette, I've never seen one before but I hear they were even designed to have the the LS1 in it!

I can see and understand why you feel down but remember this car is not new. All my problems other than the engine will happen to any older car.

Paid a little more for my car and the only trouble I had was a blown blow off valve. The fact that Steve tuned it and said everything was good kinda calmed me too.
