Lose horsepower with bonez intakes and no heat shield

if you get the bonez hard pipe intake kit and didnt put on a heat shield would you actually lose power from the hot air being sucked in? I know the two filters should flow better but we all know how hot it gets under the hood so I wanted to know if you actually lose power if you dont have a heat shield.

It probably wont result in less horsepower than stock. It would be best if it was in place, but you probably wont feel much of a diffrence. With an intake being in the engine, its going to suck in hot air regardless, the air will only be somewhat cooler with a heat shield. Every little bit helps though.

Yes, it will perform at less than optimal.

Run a search for 'cold air duct'

A good cold air intake will always be better than an open hot air intake. I believe my stock airbox mod will perform as well as the shielded hot air intakes. See my sig for more info.
