loose belt???

the belt infront of the battery in my 93 seems to be loose,,, or at least i can hear it squeeking,, anybody have any thoughts on that,,, do i try and tighten (i dont wanna overtighten) or should i spray on some belt spray??

check the tension first before tightening it, you should be able to move it about half an inch, you can put the anti squeek spray but it is not recommended...it makes the belt weaker..check your tensioner to which is located by the power steering pulley, that might be the one squeeling...

Yeah it is a 10mm bolt that is right behind the tensioner pulley. If you give that a turn will it is running see if that takes care of it.

Talking loose belt

It's more than just the 10mm adjusting bolt. If you don't loosen the 17 or 19 mm nut on the idler first you'll break the adjusting bracket when you try to tighten it. Jack

Yeah listen to this guy ^^ most people try to just move the 10mm bolt and break the damn bracket because there is a 17mm bolt that holds the bracket in place once done tensioning it.
