May I ask where you got the license plate frame? Does it say Mazda Performance Rotary Power?

The older RSR-made RB dual tips don't have that double-layer look. However, it still has that thick rolled look on the edge. They also don't have the RB logo on the sides of the tips.

If you can't find any info, I can snap a pic of mine tonight.

I like the old style RSR exhaust, wish they still made them in that style. The new style looks kind of "fat".

you funny lookin goof ball!! What were you thinkin with this thread????

Jk

I like the duals better. Much classier and more sleek imo. But I had to go single to get the flamage and extra power. Greddy's titanium single sounds pretty good imo and I like the weight savings. I liked my custom duals much much better for looks and sound though.

Fire is cool Mmmm k

I believe this is the old style Racing Beat, but I've only had it 6 months so I can't be 100% sure.

Not to steal your thread rotorbrain...But could you take a rough measurement of the width and length of the racing beat muffler dgeesaman?

Of what, the canister or tips?

I can tell you now, it hangs a little long; I'll bet the tips are 1" further out the back than they should be. My exhaust fits kinda crappy - still not sure which component is making things difficult.

Just the canister.

I'm planning on running a dual exhaust (one for each turbo, custom TT setup) and I want everything on the outside to look/sound as stock as possible, including the exhaust. Since the RB only has a single inlet, I plan on buying a Magnaflow muffer, with dual inlets/outlets, and welding some Magnaflow tips to it. I'm just not sure what size muffler to get, so i'm hoping that the measurement can give me a rough idea on what size to get.

-Alex

rotorbrain 06-30-05 08:47 AM

alex, dont worry about your petty thievery!!!! :D this thread is here to help everyone. . . including myself.

about the muffler size. it all depends on your tip length as well. the original tip length for my single setup was 12" or so. . . the case length on my flowmaster is 13" i believe. . . theres plenty of room under there.

i must say however. . . youre wanting to run duals all the way back right???? what size? based on what ive just done. . . its not all that easy to fit piping in that area. i went with 3" piping and that was somewhat hard. i assume youll go with dual 2.5" piping. . . that equals MORE than 5" running through that area when you add in the spacing between the two. itll be hard. . . ill say that confidently. if you do it. . . by all means. . . post it. cause i wanna see it. . . or better yet. . . come by davids house and let me see it. . . cause im willing to be itll be crafty. itd have to be in order to get it to fit.

also, what is the point of doing that? do you get better HP gains from true dual on a twinturbo setup? i wouldnt know. . . if it were me. . . id be collecting early on with a magnaflow in the midpipe out to one 3" pipe to the rear. . . finish with the catback of your choice.

Well it's not a problem running dual dp's, and dual straight pipes, it's just a problem from the cat back. I took a closer look today, and I may not be able to fit it. It would probably start to get damn heavy also, so I may just end up running dual dp's, and y it in at the straight pipe. However, i know it's been done before. Can't think of his s/n though.

It should free up some hp, however i'm not totally sure how much. Whatever hp it'd free up, would probably be worthless once you factor in the weight of the whole thing. It'd only be a few rwhp though. (1-5) I'm just wanting something that is one off, and sounds/looks diffrent from everything else. I really don't think there's a single thing on my car that anyone else has, except the block. lol I'll prlly end up using the RE TI straight pipe, and using the Greddy TI exhaust that I already have on the car.

-Alex

rotorbrain 06-30-05 08:46 PM

you want something that sounds one off??? come hear my flowmaster super 40 deltaflow!!! i dont have any tips on it yet. . . (just ordered them), but i think itll sound a bit different. :D

i think your idea of collecting them at the midpipe is a good idea. that way you can spend less on the catback area. just find a muffler that you like that you can do that with. should be pretty awesome. if you need some help let me know.

paul

rotorbrain 06-30-05 08:50 PM

just had an idea. . . dont the apexi n1 duals y-out before the rear wheels? if so. . . you could get that catback and match it up from there. . . that way you can have your true dual system. :D
